Storage space
See an estimate of this website’s browser storage use.
Your browser reports an estimate for this website’s origin. It is not a measurement of all free space on your phone or computer.
Browser support varies. A request does not guarantee that storage will be made persistent.
Backups and folders
Save everything or just one subject and its subfolders.
Full backup
Includes folders, flashcards, progress, and settings.
One folder
Export a subject with all subfolders and cards. You can import it into another folder later.
When importing, choose where the folder should be placed.
Recall saves your folders, flashcard text, accepted alternatives, progress and settings in this browser. Browser limits vary. Storage can be cleared by browser settings, private browsing, device cleanup or a browser error. Autosave is not a substitute for backups. Export copies regularly and keep them somewhere safe.
Only enter text you have permission or a lawful basis to use. Do not paste large chunks of copyrighted material or other people's private information into your cards. Do not store passwords, sensitive information or school account credentials in Recall.
How autosave works
- Folder names, card text, accepted alternatives, card layout, progress and settings are saved in this browser’s local storage.
- Unfinished text-card drafts save on this device as you work. A completed card is saved when you choose Save card.
- Recall does not upload your revision content to a server. Your hosting provider can still receive ordinary website connection information.
The storage meter is an estimate for the whole website origin. Other data stored by the same website can be included, and browser-reported quota may change. LocalStorage is commonly limited to about 5 MiB per origin; that smaller limit can be reached before the overall meter is full. If Recall reports that a save failed, export a backup and reduce the amount of saved text before continuing.

Tutorial & data
Control your guide and backups.
Folder and card text, progress and settings are saved in this browser’s local storage. Data stays in this browser and is not synchronised to another device. Clearing browser/site data, using a different browser or opening the file under a different origin can make it unavailable. Keep regular backups.
How to use Recall
A quick guide to the main features.
1. Find your way around
On a phone, use the fixed navigation bar at the bottom for Home, Folders and Revise. Tap More for Settings, Help & privacy, backups and the tutorial. Tap the Recall logo at the top to return home. On larger screens, use the sidebar.
2. Add flashcards
Write a question and answer, add optional accepted alternatives (synonyms), and use the simple text layout editor to position the text if you need to.
3. Organise folders
Use Copy folder and Paste folder for a full independent copy. Use Move to choose another folder or the top level; drag and drop is also available on desktop.
4. Revise
Choose flashcards, multiple choice, type-the-answer, fill-in-the-gaps, matching, mixed practice or a generated crossword.
5. Change appearance
Open Settings to choose a light or dark theme and accent colour.
6. Back up
Open Storage & backups from More on a phone or the sidebar on desktop. Export everything or only a chosen folder. Imports are validated before changes are applied.
Privacy in plain English
Recall is designed to work locally. It does not include accounts, analytics, advertisements, tracking pixels, external fonts, external scripts, AI requests, cloud sync or automatic sharing. The app stores folders, card text, progress and preferences in browser local storage. The app itself does not send those values to a server.
When you open a hosted copy, the hosting provider may still receive routine connection information such as your IP address, request time and browser/network metadata. Hosting providers may keep server or security logs under their own policies. A local HTML file avoids a web-host request after the file has been obtained, but your operating system, browser, backups and network can still keep their own records.
Do not put sensitive personal information, passwords, school account details or other people's private information into flashcards. Anyone with access to your unlocked device/browser profile or an exported backup may be able to read your data.
Storage note: Browser local storage is not encrypted by this app. Backups are ordinary JSON files and are not encrypted. Save backups somewhere you control.
Technical details
Recall is a single-file application. It uses browser JavaScript, local storage, file import/export and built-in local brand assets. It does not load third-party code or assets. It does not register a service worker, request device permissions or use the clipboard API.
Local-file storage behaviour varies by browser. If data persistence is inconsistent when opening a file directly, use a private local web server or trusted static HTTPS host. An online host can log requests even though Recall itself does not upload revision data. HTTPS is recommended for hosted use. The linked web manifest supplies app name and icon metadata for compatible browsers, but this version does not include a service worker, offline cache or background update system; installation behaviour varies by browser.
